What is the Diode function ?
The CANdiode technology protects the vehicle CANbus against my interference. It is a ready only port and with special electronics. With the connect & Go cabling and clear installation instructions the risk of incorrect installation is minimized.
What is a telematics interface ?
A telematic interface is an electronic device to read data from the CANbus of a truck and translate the data into a RS232 protocol. This protocol can be ASCII or binary based.
About FMS standard
The FMS standard is set of data defined by the Truck manufacturers. The list of 20 items is not sufficient to support full fleet management functions, and not all vehicles support the same set of data.
Choose 6803-CQ for safe and reliable reading of CANbus data with CANcliQ
The Squarell CANcliQ reads vehicle signals without making a wire to wire connection. This technology guarantees that no intrusive signals are send to the vehicle CANbus. This eliminates liability matters, warranty issues or possible wrong connections.

What data does the Squarell telematics interface read ?
The Squarell telematics interface reads all available data from a OEM FMS interface. This data is limited to the data the vehicle manufacturer wishes to release. Data on the FMS CANbus is always a subset of the available data on a vehicle CANbus.
What does the Squarell telematics interface read ?
Squarell does more than just streaming the data to the RS232 port. Squarell processes the data via advanced algorithms inside the interface.
Theses algorithms provide you with exact and important data to accomplish advanced fleet management. In the list we show you some data gererated by the telematics interface. This can be extended on a project basis. We are continiously developing more routines and can advise you how to accomplish a unique CANbus fleet management solution.
How is the data send over RS232?
The protocol to send the streamed and processed data over RS232 can be configured to the specification of the customer. The data is send on interval basis, but together with the customer can define:
- Baud rate, stop bits, parity
- Checksum (HDLC-PPP, CCITT16, proprietary)
- Handshake (CTS/DTR)
- Sending data on request of the telematics/PC
- Sending when a event occurs (f.e. harsh braking)
- Sending on interval (f.e. streaming actual data)
- The 3 above combined for every data type or set of data
- Threshold settings (f.e. maximum idling time)
- Calibration routines
RS232 and USB
The standard product supports the RS232 communication over a D-sub9 connector or via a Serial to USB interface.
Services.
The configuration options are very easy and fast to implement. That means that from start to working finish you are less then a few days away. We have all services available to help you start up your CANbus projects.

Do you need a FMS interface?
To read the data from a vehicle you’ll need a FMS interface of some kind. You cannot read data from a vehicle data network without a protective interface function. Many trucks are ordered from factory without a FMS interface. It is not easy to check if a FMS interface is installed, software enabled and tested. With Squarell FMS interface you do not have to visit the truck dealer as the FMS interface is ready to go.
If a truck has no FMS interface and you want to use the power of the Squarell telematics interface then refer to section of the Squarell Telematics interface with FMS products.
